IV of XII
Back when she was a girl and first met him,
there was no one else in her world but Bill.
But right from the start, he'd always been dim.
She'd try, and try - his reaction was nil.
It really did seem he just didn't care.
But whatever else could she do for this man?
She worked out, lost weight, changed clothes and her hair.
Bought nice new heels, and then got a nice tan.
Nothing worked, nothing at all! Like today,
she tried to shake him a bit, make him mad,
and all that she’d said, he brushed it away.
Then all that happened was her getting sad.
I see her sometimes and think "What's the use?
In loving a man who’s so damn obtuse?!"
